Sick of the Smoke? Fight Environmental Racism

The National Weather Service and the Washington Department of Ecology have issued an air quality advisory starting 10am today, and continuing through 5pm on Wednesday, due to wildfire smoke from the Washington Cascades and British Columbia. Air quality may be unhealthy during this period.

But wait, this is a group dedicated to fighting the Trump agenda. Why are you sending me an air quality advisory?

Well…they’re related. Climate change is making these wildfires more and more common. Expect more of this if we don’t take action. And the administration in the other Washington is content to sit on its hands and pretend nothing is happening.

This is one of many reasons why Seattle Indivisible has endorsed Initiative 1631. This landmark environmental justice initiative will be on the ballot this November, and if is passes, will fund investments in clean energy, clean water, healthy forests, and in our local communities.

But big oil has already pledged $5.4 million to defeat this initiative. More than 99% of this is coming from oil and gas companies. We need your help to fight back and ensure a healthy future for everyone. You can do three things right now to help:

  1. Donate. Go to https://secure.actblue.com/donate/yeson1631 and make a donation, if you are able to.
  2. Volunteer. The Yes on 1631 campaign has a few canvasses coming up to help persuade undecided voters:
